New Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Adenola, has, on Thursday, assumed office.
Adenola who was deployed last week by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, becomes the 47th Police Commissioner of the Oyo State Command.
This was announced in a post on the Command X handle today.
“Good morning, Fam! Behold the 47th Commissioner of Police,Oyo State Command. CP Johnson Oluwole Adenola, psc. Oyo Police Command wishes you a Crimefree Day!” the post read.
Adenola, a graduate of Ogun State University with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.), joined the police force in 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and has served for 33 years.
He later became the Officer-in-Charge of the ‘X’ Squad at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, from 2014 to 2015.
The new Oyo CP was posted to the Criminal Intelligence & Investigation Department in Lokoja, Kogi State, where he served as Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of CID from June 2017 to May 2019.
He would be moved to the Force Headquarters in Abuja as Assistant Commissioner in Charge of Discipline from May 2019 to January 2020.
Between January 2020 and August 2021, Adenola was Deputy Force Secretary at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters before becoming Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Operations at the Delta State Command from August 2021 to November 2023.
Prior to his appointment as Oyo Police Commissioner, Adenola served as the Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to IGP Egbetokun.
