Nigerian social media influencer and human rights activist, Isaac Fayose, has accused human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, of attacking the 2023 Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in an attempt to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This is coming under the heels of the ongoing legal feud between Adeyanju and Obi who threatened to sue the lawyer over alleged defamation.
NPO Reported that Obi had in a letter issued by his legal counsel accused Adeyanju of persistent derogatory remarks against him using his social media handle.
The former Anambra state governor had demanded the lawyer’s retraction of all the posts considered defamatory and tender a public apology to him or risk being dragged to court.
Adeyanju had in reaction in a post on his Facebook page welcomed being sued to court.
The lawyer would further call Obi a fraud in an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today programme, adding that he would rather vote for President Bola Tinubu if him and Obi are the only options on the ballot.
Reacting to Adeyanju’s statement, Fayose in a post on his Instagram handle on Saturday alleged that the human right lawyer’s attack on Obi is an indirect attempt to support the Tinubu-led administration.
The brother of former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, claimed Adeyanju is emulating former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri, who was renowned for his attacks on Obi before eventually joining Tinubu’s administration.
Fayose challenged Adeyanju to open up on his support for the APC rather than using Obi to score cheap political points.
“My brother Deji Adeyanju, you wan go APC. You dey take style to support Tinubu government. But you no fit come out openly to say oh I don go APC!
“You are supporting Tinubu government you dey use legbegbe like Reno Omokri who started by fighting and later he just crossed in. Deji dey use the same style.
“Mr. Deji Adeyanju enter direct and stop using Obi to score cheap points. If you are going to APC, go freely. Leave that man alone. What has he done to you? He hasn’t done anything.
“You want to go to APC but you don’t know how you will do it because Sowore will be disappointed, your brother.
“So, you don’t know the style. You said if Obi is on the ballot, you will vote Tinubu. You think say we no know who you dey support?” Fayose said.
