AFCON 2021: Super Eagles Suffer Injury Blow Ahead of Sudan Game

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will be without Chidozie Awaziem for the second 2021 Africa Cup of Nations match against Sudan.

Awaziem was unable to play in the Super Eagles' 1-0 victory over Egypt on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old was not even included in the matchday squad, with interim manager Austin Eguavoen admitting after the game that he had suffered a minor injury.

The defender was expected to be available on Saturday, but he missed the team's recovery exercise on Wednesday.

And, with Nigeria playing again on Saturday, Awaziem is in a race against the clock to play. In his absence, Kenneth Omeruo and William Troost-Ekong combined in the center of defense to maintain a clean sheet against Mohammed Salah and co.

Despite picking up a knock during the encounter against Egypt, Omeruo is believed to be fit for the game against Sudan after being spotted in training.
