The founder of Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), Chief Afe Babalola, has slammed N500 million damage against Dele Farotimi for defamation while also demanding complete seizure of all digital and printed copies of his publication.
This was disclosed in a leaked court paper from the ongoing legal tussle between the elder statesman and the human rights lawyer.
As contained in the court paper, Babalola’s Managing Partner, Kehinde Ogunwumiju, accused Farotimi of making “false, mischievous and defamatory” statements in his controversial book titled “Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System”.
Ogunwumiju alleged that the publication has damaged the reputation of Babalola and his chambers.
In the same vein, the lawyer prayed to the Federal High Court for an order of interlocutory injunction demanding the seizure of all physical copies of the books.
He also called for the restraining of publishers, marketers, and others involved in the circulation of the book, from the further publication and circulation of both physical and digital copies.
Meanwhile, NPO earlier reported the denial of Farotimi’s bail application by Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court.
The court adjourned the hearing of the bail application till December 20th.
