President Bola Tinubu, late Wednesday met with a group of intervention team over the growing tension in Niger Republic.
Information available to the NPO Reports showed that the group that met the President was made up of leaders of various Islamic organisations that cut across West Africa up to Sudan. It was learnt that some of the leaders of the groups had shown concerns over escalating face off between new military junta and the ECOWAS. They were said to have volunteered to intervene in the face off and ensure an amicable resolution. NPO Reports had reported earlier that former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi had met with the junta on Wednesday in Niamey.
The military leaders had ousted President Mohammed Bazoum two weeks ago and appointed General Tchani as their leader. The coup leaders also three days ago named an economist at the country’s new Prime Minister.
