Commiserates With Victims’ Families

President Bola Tinubu has commiserated with the families of the deceased victims in Afriland Towers fire outbreak in Lagos while calling for more caution, training, and alertness.
NPO Reported that the fire incident which occurred on Tuesday at the eight-storey building along Broad Street, Lagos Island, had claimed the lives of four staff of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
While the Afriland Properties Chairman, Tony Elumelu, had also announced the death of an undisclosed number of the company’s staff, another occupant of the building, United Capital, confirmed losing six members of its staff to the tragic incident.
This brought the death toll at the incident to ten.
Reacting to the tragic development in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu extended his condolences to the families of the deceased as well as the management and staff of all the affected companies.
While commending the emergency responders and members of the public for quick intervention, the President called for more caution, training, and alertness to avert such emergencies in the future.
The statement read; President Bola Tinubu commiserates with the families of victims, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), the United Capital, and the United Bank of Africa (UBA) Plc over Tuesday’s fire outbreak at Afriland Towers on Broad Street, Lagos Island.
President Tinubu extends his condolences to the management and staff of Afriland Properties Limited, the FIRS, the United Capital, UBA, and particularly those who lost loved ones in the inferno, and the injured who are currently receiving medical attention.
“The President commends the emergency responders, including the Federal Fire Service, first aiders, medical personnel, and members of the public, for their quick intervention and notes their deep sense of responsibility during the evacuation.
“President Tinubu advises more caution, training, and alertness to avert such emergencies in the future.
“The President prays that God Almighty will receive the souls of the departed and grant quick recovery to the injured.”
