All eyes are on Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress on Monday as he faces the Northern Elders Forum.
Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party Atiku Abubakar, had met the forum earlier.
One of the statements he made at the forum is still generating ripples.
While Atiku had said he is the pan-Nigerian leader Nigeria needs next, he told those present that the North needs him most and not any candidate from either Yoruba or Igbo lane.
The comments have put Atiku under heat as many have taken these to be indicative of ethnic bias.
Already , Tinubu, who arrived Kaduna on Sunday ahead of today’s meeting with the elite of the North, is at the venue of the meeting.
He is supported by notable Northern government officials and political leaders.
Among others, Tinubu is expected to be asked on his programmes to alleviate poverty in the North with specific attention to insecurity, poverty, and education.
The Northern part of Nigeria suffers the highest form of banditry and insurgency. The North-East states of Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, and others have suffered but recovering from insurgency.
The North-Central states of Kaduna, Kogi, Plateau, Niger and Taraba are also affected with Kaduna and Niger being the worst hit.
The North West region is currently undergoing attacks by terrorists who have killed and kidnapped in Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara and part of Kebbi.
The North is also believed to contribute the highest figures in the statistics of out-of-school children which about 15million now.
The North has also been mostly affected of recent by the ravaging flood with farms washed away and residential estates destroyed.
