Again, Tension Heightens in Igangan As Residents Allege Machete Attacks by Herders

The last may not have been heard of the crisis between residents of Igangan in Ibarapa East Local Government Area of Oyo State and herders as the community on Saturday alleged attacks midnight.

Mr. Taiwo Adeagbo, who is the Farmers Secretary of Igangan told the NPO Reports that the attacks on two members of the community took place exactly about 24 hours after a meeting for peace held at the police command on Friday.

He said the matter had been brought to the knowledge of the police command.

He gave the names of the victims as Adekola Adeyemo and Jamiu Saheed. 

He said the attacks took place at Asunnara area of Igangan a day after the meeting held at the office of the Commissioner of Police.

He added that the victims who were admitted into a private medical hospital in Igangan were visited by the Divisional Crimes officer.

The development is said to have made residents especially the youths to conclude that there is no peace in sight in spite of promises by the state government and the police for protection.
