Former captain of the Nigerian National team, Ahmed Musa, has condemned Libya’s ill-treatment of the Super Eagles following their arrival at the North African country for the return leg of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers yesterday.
Reacting to the disturbing incident where the Nigerian national team were stranded at an abandoned Libyan airport for over ten hours, Musa took to his X handle to air his disappointment.
He, however called on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to intervene and investigate the incident.
“I’m extremely disappointed by the unjust treatment of the Super Eagles, the NFF officials, as well as dignitaries in Libya.
“This is not sportsmanship, and I want the football governing body,
@CAF_Online to intervene and investigate this incident.
“I stand with the players in this difficult time.” Musa wrote.
Recall that Super Eagles had travelled to Libya for the return leg of the ongoing AFCON Qualifiers.
They had earlier defeated the Mediterranean Knights at the first leg of the encounter at Godswill Akapbio International Stadium, Uyo.
However, the team’s captain, William Troost-Ekong would, yesterday, report the disturbing twist of event following the diversion of their flight to an abandoned airport ahead of the return leg slated for Tuesday.
