Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has reiterated his commitment to the successful establishment of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) Teaching Hospital to enhance healthcare delivery in the region.
Aiyedatiwa made this known on Sunday while receiving members of the House of Representatives Committee on Federal Health Institutions, in Akure.
Welcoming the committee led by Chairman Rep. Patrick Umoh, the governor revealed that the state had ceded one of its specialist hospitals to serve as a temporary facility for the hospital’s initial operations.
“Additionally, the state government has allocated land for the development of the hospital’s permanent site.
“Our administration is ready to offer all necessary support to ensure the swift and successful establishment of the institution.
“The feedback from this oversight visit will benefit not only the federal and state governments but also health professionals and the people of Ondo State,” the governor said.
In his remarks, Umoh explained that the visit was part of the committee’s national oversight tour of federal health institutions, in line with its legislative mandate.
He urged the governor to continue providing an enabling environment and necessary support to ensure the hospital’s smooth take-off.
“The importance of this project aligns with the committee’s broader goal of stabilising the healthcare system in Nigeria.
“The success of the Federal Government’s renewed hope agenda in the health sector depends heavily on partnerships with sub-national governments like Ondo State.
“We are counting on your cooperation and support to bring this critical project to fruition.
“Your input will be vital in advancing the federal government’s efforts to improve healthcare delivery nationwide,” the lawmaker said. NAN
