The Lagos State Governor,Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has identified with the family, friends and associates of the late Gafaru Buraimoh,who died on Tuesday after a stray bullet allegedly fired by one Inspector around Ajah area of the state.
Recall that the state’s PPRO of the Police, Benjamin Hundeyin had on Wednesday disclosed that the Inspector who was allegedly involved in the shooting incident resulted in the death Gafaru Buraimoh had been arrested, disarmed and currently in the custody of the state command.
“At About 11:30p.m on Tuesday, December 06, 2022, a shooting incident involving men of Ajah Division resulted in the unfortunate death of Gafaru Buraimoh of Happy Land Estate, Ajah.
“The officer behind the shooting, an Inspector of Police, was immediately disarmed and has been detained, as full-scale investigation has commenced.
“The Command through the Area Commander, Elemoro and Divisional Police Officer, Ajah has since notified and established contact with the family,”the state’s PPRO, Benjamin Hundeyin had said in a statement on Wednesday
Reacting,the governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile on Thursday expressed sadness over the death of the late Buraimoh.
He pledged that the State Government under his leadership would work with the police in their investigation to unravel the remote and immediate cause of the shooting that led to the untimely death of an innocent citizen, with a view to ensuring that justice is served.

“No one deserves to die in that manner. Buraimoh was one of our million citizens with hope for a better life. His death is a sad episode for me personally and the State as whole because injury to one is injury to all.
“I am aware that the Lagos State police command has immediately arrested, disarmed and detained the police officer involved in the shooting incident and has also begun a full scale investigation in the matter,“Sanwo-Olu was quoted as saying
“I therefore urge the residents to remain calm and not take the law into their hands on the matter, knowing fully we, as the Government would not spare anything to ensure that justice is served.”
The Governor added that his office is earnestly awaiting the full report of the investigation launched by the police authorities on the unfortunate incident.
