There are indications that the Deputy Governor of Ondo state, Mr. Lucky Ayedatiwa is in for an impeachment as some lawmakers are said to have perfected plans for his removal. Sources in the state said already impeachable offences have been compiled against the deputy governor. The presence of heavily armed security personnel at the gate of the House of Assembly coupled with an emergency plenary gave the indications that the days of the deputy governor were numbered. Among other allegations, Ayedatiwa was said to have approved a sum of N300m for the purchase of a bulletproof car for himself when the governor was away in Germany. NPO Reports that Akeredolu returned to Nigeria three weeks ago after about three months of medical vacation. His deputy acted for him for the period. Last week, Governor Akeredolu ordered the sack of all the media aides of the deputy governor giving rise to speculations that there was crack in the Government House. Amidst the tension, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, debunked rumours of impeachment of the deputy governor. Oladiji said that ” there’s no underground plot to impeach the deputy governor.
” There is nothing like that, you know the social media can write anything they like, but it is not true.
” Nothing like that is going on. As I am talking to you, I’m in Abuja for the Speakers’ conference. So, there is nothing like that.”
