Former Minister of Niger Delta, Godswill Akpabio, on Tuesday took to the streets in jubilation of his victory at the senatorial election held on Saturday.
Akpabio, whose senatorial ticket on the platform of the All Progressive Congress became a subject of legal tussle, was declared the winner of the election which was conducted on he Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) today, in the raffia city of Ikot Ekpene, declared me the winner of the electoral contest for the seat of the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
“This victory was made possible first and foremost by God, followed by you the good people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District. I thank you for this show of love and support. I promise to give you my people, quality representation at the National Assembly. God bless you all, in Jesus’ name.”
Declaring Akpabio as the winner of the contest for the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, the returning officer for the senatorial district, Professor Anthony Udoh, said that the former Minister Niger Delta Affairs, satisfied all conditions to be declared the winner having polled 115,401 valid votes.
Candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Mr. Emmanuel Enoidem, csme second in the election with 69,838 votes.
