Suspended Kogi lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has apologized to former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, over being abused at the Senate Ethics Committee by Ebonyi lawmaker, Sen. Onyekachi Nwaebonyi.
NPO Reported that Ezekwesili had led Natasha’s representatives at the hearing of her sexual harrasment petition before the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions.
Drama would, however, ensue at the hearing on Tuesday as ex-Minister engaged in exchange of words with Nwaebonyi.
The lawmaker, representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, abused Ezekwesili calling her an insult to womanhood.
Nwaebonyi disclosed, in an interview on Channels TV on Tuesday evening, that the ex-Minister had told him to shut up and called him a hooligan which led to his outburst.
In a separate interview with Arise TV, Ezekwesili admitted having shunned the lawmaker, telling him to shut up.
Reacting to the incident in a post on her X handle on Wednesday, Natasha tendered an apology to Ezekwesili.
She held the ex-Minister’s commitment to good governance, education, and democracy continues to inspire generations.
Natasha also commended Ezekwesili for her resilience and selfless service.
“Ma’am, I apologise for the insults. Know you took them for me… for us … as a mother and as a leader. Know that you are a true icon of integrity, courage, and visionary leadership.
“Your unwavering commitment to good governance, education and democracy continues to inspire generations. A champion of accountability…Nigerians appreciate you. I celebrate your brilliance, resilience and selfless service. You are a hero” She wrote.
