The Presidency has debunked claims of the appointment of a new Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) to replace George Akume.
As against reports that President Bola Tinubu had appointed his Special Adviser on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, as the new SGF, the Presidency noted that Akume remains the SGF, labelling the reports as untrue.
This was made known in a statement issued on Saturday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to Onanuga, the President who is currently at Saint Lucia has not made any new appointments.
The Presidency, urged Nigerians to disregard the claims of Akume’s replacement which, according to Onanuga, was fabricated by agents of mischief.
“There has been no change in the status of His Excellency, Senator George Akume, as Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, currently in Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments.
“The information circulating about Akume’s replacement is untrue. Agents of mischief fabricated it.
“The Presidency advises Nigerians to disregard the fake news.” The statement read.
