An Ikeja Special Offences Court has, on Monday granted bail of ₦20 million to former Managing Director of the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), Ahmed Kuru, and four other defendants on trial for the alleged ₦76 billion and $31.5 million fraud involving Arik Airline.
The Presiding judge, Justice Mojisola Dada granted each defendant bail in the sum of ₦20 million with one surety apiece after considering arguments presented by their respective lawyers.
NPO earlier reported that Kuru was, alongside current Managing Director of Arik Air, Captain Roy Ilegbodu, Receiver Manager of Arik Air. Kamilu Omokide, Union Bank Plc and Super Bravo Limited, arraigned before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
They were arraigned on a six-count charge bordering on alleged theft of properties belonging to Arik Air and abuse of office.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to them.
According to reports, Kuru, had in December, appeared before the Ikeja Judicial Division of the Lagos State High Court over the charges filed on October 29, 2024.
