A group of the Federal Capital Territory’s (FCT) residents has staged night protest against the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, over his alleged land grabbing across the capital city.
The group, led by Nigerian activist, Isaac Fayose, picked up from where the demonstration by FCT workers in the early hours of Monday stopped as they assembled to by the roadside in the evening to stage their protest.
NPO Reported that the Minister was alleged to have sneaked out on the protesters who obstructed his convoy from exiting the FCT Secretariat where they had assembled.
As captured in series of video shared on his Instagram handle, Fayose and other protesters demanded for the removal of the FCT Minister while also holding banners with inscriptions calling for the end to the alleged land grabbing by the Wike-led FCT Administration.
Some of the inscriptions read, ‘Wike stop selling our garden’, ‘Say no to land grabbing in FCT’, ‘Disobeying court orders is a crime to our nation’.
The protesters were also seen with lit candles in what further appeared like a candlelight procession with tapes of late Afrobeats legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, playing in the background, to lit up the atmosphere.
