A United States of America’s investigative journalist, Laura Loomer, has questioned the US President, Donald Trump, over his invitation of Syrian President, Ahmed al-Sharaa, a former member of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
Loomer, in a post shared on her X handle yesterday expressed her displeasure with the Monday visit to the Oval office by al-Sharaa, who was known during his time ISIS as Abu Mohammad al-Julani.
Recall that the US had earlier this year removed the $10 million bounty placed on the head of the now repentant former wanted terrorist who had in May met with Trump in Qatar before his first visit to the US during the United Nations General Assembly.
Trump had thereafter invited him for an official visit to the White House.
The historical visit which marked the first time in 800 years that a Syrian President would visit the US saw Trump host al-Sharaa at the Oval Office where he reportedly sprayed and gifted him a perfume before their formal engagement.
Reacting to the visit of the former terrorist, Loomer question Trump’s hosting of al-Sharaa who she referred by his former name, Julani.
While, expressing her admiration for the US President, the journalist held that she never voted for him to be hosting a former ISIS terrorist who had allegedly murdered several US soldiers.
“I definitely didn’t vote for this. I love President Trump. But I didn’t vote for Emir of Qatar to be flying around Air Force One.
“And I didn’t vote for an ISIS terrorist who has literarily murdered the United States soldiers to hanging out at the oval office, getting sprays of Donald Trump’s perfume.
“I didn’t vote for that. President Trump decided of all days that he was going to invite Abu Mohammed Al Julani, an Islamic terrorist who was literally wanted by the United States’ State Department for a bounty of $10 million until May of this year when President Trump met with him at the urging of MBS when he was in Saudi Arabia.” She said.
Loomer accused el-Sharaa of currently massacring minorities groups in Syria including Christians, Duze, Alawites, and Kurds.
“You will recall in May when President Trump went to Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates in Qatar, on his very eventful Middle Eastern trip.
“Well, there is only one problem with that. Julani is currently massacring minorities in Syra, including Christians, Druze, Alawites, and Kurds.
“And what’s really crazy about his visit to the United States which is his second visit, the first time ever that a leader of Syria has actually visited the United States in 80 years.” the journalist said.
While reiterating the alleged massacre in a caption of the video post, Loomer held that Americans deserve to know who orchestrated the negotiation with the former terrorist’s leader.
She held that the visit of el-Sharaa to the White barely a day before the Veterans Day does nothing but harm to Trump’s approval rating.
“Julani is still overseeing massacres of Christians, Druze, Alawites, and Kurds in Syria, yet the State Department and people around President Trump moved to clear his terror designation so he could visit the U.S. for meetings with American officials.
“The American people deserve to know who orchestrated negotiations with terrorists and why a terrorist leader suddenly has VIP access in Washington DC.
“President Trump’s team should be working to mitigate PR disasters like the Julani visit. Meeting in the Oval Office one day before Veterans Day with a jihadist who murdered American soldiers does nothing but harm President Trump’s approval rating.” Loomer wrote.
The development came amidst controversies over Trump’s designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concerns.”
Trump had accused Nigeria of what he called “Christian Genocide” alleging that Christians in the country are being wiped out.
The Nigerian authorities and other groups had responded to Trump admitting that though there is insecurity in the country, there are no evidences to suggest people of a particular faith are targeted.
