Former President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, on Monday hosted members of the 8th Senate which he presided over.
The hosting is coming amidst high level discussions and meetings among political heavyweights across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Saraki, in a post on his Facebook page expressed his delight over the reunion.
“It’s just a few months shy of 10 years since our inauguration in 2015—yet our camaraderie remains strong.”
“Yesterday, I had the pleasure of hosting my distinguished colleagues from the 8th Senate for Iftar at my home in Abuja. It’s always a joy to reunite, catch up, and enjoy each other’s company.
“I appreciate them all for honouring my invitation.” The ex-Senate President wrote.
Recall that Saraki, scion of a political dynasty from Kwara state North Central region of Nigeria, had eyed the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party.
NPO Reports that various political factions are holding meetings towards alignments ahead of 2027 as the cloud gathers in the battle against the incumbent President Bola Tinubu.
Though it was not stated that the meeting was for any political purposes, the presence of many former members of the senate many of who are stakeholders in their respective parties and states, analysts believe, raise suspicion that it was held to open talks and solidify some agreements.
