Amnesty International has condemned the fresh attack on another Plateau state community by unknown gunmen which left at least 51 people dead.
NPO Reported that the gunmen had on Sunday night invaded Zikke village of Bassa Local Government Area of the state.
This came barely two weeks after similar attack on communities across Bokkos LGA which killed over 52 persons.
Reacting over the latest attack in a post on its official X handle on Monday, Amnesty decried the killing and the destruction of properties.
The human rights group held that most of the victims of the attacks are elderly people and children.
Faulting the security operatives over the attack, Amnesty called for thorough investigation while stressing that the security lapses is inexcusable.
“Amnesty International strongly condemns the killing of at least 51 people last night when gunmen invaded Zikke village of Bassa LGA, Plateau State. Along the way the gunmen also razed villages and looted homes, destroying everything on their path.
“Many of the victims of last’s deadly attack that could not run — including children and the elderly — were slaughtered and left in pools of blood. The inexcusable security lapses that enabled this horrific attacks, two weeks after the killing of 52 people, must be investigated.” Amnesty wrote.
