Amnesty International has, again, called for the release of Micheal Adaramoye, also known as Michael Lenin, and Mosiu Sodiq who were arrested at the wake of the #EndBadGovernance Protest.
The Humanitarian group made the call for their release in a post on their official X handle earlier today.
According to the group, both activists were arrested on the 5th of August, 2024, and have ever since been detained with the Inspector General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT).
“Amnesty International strongly condemns the continuous arbitrary detention of activists; Adaramoye Michael (Lenin) and Mosiu Sodiq. They were arrested at their home in Apo Abuja in the early hours of 5 August 2024 by the operatives of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA)
“Since 5 August 2024, they have been held incommunicado at the IGP’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT) office in Abuja. It appears, they are being punished for participating in the #EndBadGovernance protest. The Nigerian authorities must immediately release them.”
Adaramoye, one of the convener of the #TakeitBack movement who orchestrated the #EndBadGovernance protest, was allegedly adopted at his home by DSS Officials.
NPO Reports DSS’ denial of having him in custody following several allegations and demand for his release by the protest organizers and other activists’ movement.
