Amnesty International has reacted to the decision by the Federal Government to drop charges against convener of the Revolution Now Movement Omoyele Sowore.
NPO Reported on Thursday the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi, had issued a notice to discontinue the trial of the human rights activist and founder of Sahara Reports.
“Amnesty International today welcomes the withdrawal by the Nigerian authorities of bogus treason charges against activist Omoyele Sowore and urges the authorities to immediately drop all other fabricated charges against him,” the global body said.
Saying that Sowore should never have been charged in the first place, the body said Nigerian authorities must immediately drop the unfounded cybercrime and unlawful assembly charges against him filed by the police.
