A group of suspected political thugs have on Saturday disrupted voting exercise at a polling unit in Anambra state.
The thugs, alleged to be supporters of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) had reportedly stormed the polling unit during the gubernatorial election and snatched ballot boxes over claim that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was dominating at the polling unit.
As captured in a video shared on Thread, voters could be seen watching helplessly as the thugs carted away the ballot box despite presence of the police.
While the details of the polling unit is yet to be confirmed as at the time of filing this report, the incident had further dented the credibility of the election.
NPO Reported that the election was largely marred with vote buying which was observed across several polling units in the state.
Most candidates at the election confirmed the development at their respective polling units with the state governor and APGA candidate, Chukwuma Soludo, as admitting to the widespread of vote buying.
In the wake of the public outcry, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) confirmed the arrest of three suspected vote buyers who were caught with wads of Naira notes.
