Commuters along the Lagos-Ibadan Highway are set to experience another frustrating evening in gridlock as another truck fell along the popular Otedola Bridge on Tuesday.
As captured in a post shared on X by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the lone accident had seen the truck spilled its content across the road thereby hindering the free flow of traffic.
Vehicles were forced to slow down as they manoeuvred across the spilled contents which appeared to be granites.
According to LASTMA, the fallen truck took over 80 percent of the road with the traffic backlog currently spreading towards the popular Kara bridge.
The post read; “An articulated truck fell and spilled its contents on the express way at the tips of Otedola bridge inward Tollgate.
“The incident took 80% of the road while effort is in top gear to swiftly evacuate it from the road.
“The traffic backlog is currently spreading towards Kara but our officials are well positioned to monitor and manage the traffic situation.
“Cooperation is needed from the road users.”
The incident is coming weeks after a gas explosion rocked the area causing death of at least 5 victims while several vehicles were burnt.
The Otedola Bridge has been noted as a notorious for various mishaps with many of them leading to losses of lives.
