Former World Heavyweight Boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, has returned to the United Kingdom days after surviving tragic car crash which killed two of his friends along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
NPO Reported that the 36-year-old Nigerian-British boxer had escaped death by whisker in the fatal rod crash which occurred on Monday morning.
The Lexus Jeep conveying Joshua and his friends rammed into a stationary truck parked along the expressing, killing the boxer’s coach, Sina Ghama, and his personal trainer, Latif Ayodele.
Joshua who escaped the incident with minor injuries was admitted in hospital until discharged on New Year’s Eve when he was discharged.
In the wake of the incident, the driver of thr ill-fated vehicle, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, was arrested and arriagned to court over with dangerous and reckless driving.
Kayode who had been in custody since Thursday following his release from hospital, was arraigned on a four count charge which include dangerous driving causing death, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care as well as driving without a valid national driver’s license.
The court in the hearing of the case on Friday granted the 48-year-old driver bail of N5 million (£2,578) with the case adjourned to January 20th.
He was however remanded pending his bail conditions being met.
