Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged youths to avoid being used as tools for causing civil unrest in the state.
Adeleke made the plea while addressing newsmen after meeting with the state Security Chiefs on Saturday over the Ifon-Ilobu communal clash.
NPO Reported that the age long rivalry between Ifon and Ilobu, two neighboring communities in Osun, had escalated on Friday as youths from the two communities went to war again.
Houses and other properties were down in the resurgence of violence that had in the past seen many indigenous people killed.
The fresh clash had claimed two lives with several others injured.
In reaction, Adeleke had imposed curfew on the warring communities after holding joint security meeting with security agencies which included the Military, Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp NSCDC, Immigration, NDLEA, and AMOTEKUN among others.
While reiterating that the state remains peaceful, the governor charged the youths to challenge those inciting them to burn houses to send their children.
“The youths should not be used. Anybody that ask you to comes out and start burning houses, let their children come out too and do it first. They should not be used. Osun is peaceful.
“We are doing wonderful things here in terms of five points agenda, infrastructure, education, and health.” Adeleke said.
Also speaking, the Osun State Police Command representative vowed ensure strict compliance to the curfew at the Ifon-Ilobu communities.
“His Excellency has just synergized us and we are ready. We have been doing it and we will continue to do it to make sure that the entire Osun State is peaceful.
“Like I said earlier, we have been doing it and we will continue to do it especially that Ifon-Ilobu will be seriously more tackled than before.” He said.
