Officers of the Lagos Command of the Nigerian police have recovered an AK-47 and a pump action gun in the Ajah area of lagos State.
The command said were loaded with 8 rounds of ammunition.
According to the police, the weapons were found abandoned with a hood and a plier inside a black sack at 1.45pm
“The team of officers on a special assignment in the area had received intelligence about the suspicious substances before detouring to check it out.
“It is strongly suspected that the guns and other exhibits must have been abandoned by armed robbers who were prevented from carrying out their criminal intention by the constant presence of the police in the area.”
Organised crime has been on the rise in the Lagos metropolis.
Newly deployed Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Afolabi had vowed on resumption of office that he would rid the state of crime.
