Another bad day in office for title-chasing Mikel Arteta as his Arsenal side suffers another setback in narrow 1-0 defeat to Newcastle on Saturday.
The Gunners travelled to Tyneside to face Eddie Howe’s men for another weekend of Premier of League action.
Having suffered defeat to Chelsea last week, Newcastle sought to redeem themselves against Arsenal at the St. James Park.
The Magpies wasted no time in their quest for redemption as Alexander Isak’s 12th minute header put them into an early lead.
Mikel Arteta’s side would fail to break through Newcastle’s watertight defense as the host held on to their lead at halftime.
The second half commenced with Arsenal showing no sign of comeback as they failed to find the back of the net, managing to record just one shot on target despite dominance.
Their biggest chance of the afternoon came at the 94th minute, but Delcan Rice’s effort went wide.
With no other goal from both sides, the game ended 1-0 in favour of Newcastle as Arsenal recorded their second defeat of the 2024/2025 Premier League season.
Meanwhile, the defeat left Arsenal 4th on the table with 18 points across 10 games.
