Makinde gave the charge on at the swearing-in ceremony of the new LG officials at Osun State capital, Osogbo, on Sunday.
Speaking on behalf of the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) Governors Forum which had its Chairman and Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, in attendance, Makinde also charged the new Council Chairmen not to forget the promises made to the people, adding that their new role will serve as stepping stone for greater role providing they work hard.
“Don’t forget your promises you made to the people during your campaign.
“This is a an opportunity to deliver to our people at the grassroot level.
“For some of you, this will be your stepping stone to higher position because the reward for hard work is more work.” Makinde said.
Meanwhile, the Oyo governor, in reaction to the violence which occured in Osun last week, sent a note of warning to the All Progressive Congress (APC) to desist from turning the southwest into wild wild west.
He charged them to follow the due process as regards the ongoing legal tussle over the sacked LG Chairmen and Councillors who were reinstated by an Appeal Court ruling in Ondo.
“We are students of history. We know what we went through when the Southwest was wild wild west.
“We do not want wild wild west. They should stay away from this zone. We just want to peacefully deliver dividends to our people. And nobody should resort to self-help.
“Even if you have court judgement, there is a process. Let the process go through. You cannot because you have Federal might, you want truncate the process.” He added.
