Suspended Ogun state monarch, Oba Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, has been remanded at the Ilaro Correctional Centre in Ogun State after failing to meet his bail conditions.
The Olorile of Orile-Ifo was, yesterday, arraigned before an Ogun state Magistrate Court over physical and verbal assault of a community leader, Chief Arinola Abraham- an incident captured in a viral video.
While the court granted him bail with the case adjourned till the 6th of March 2025, Oba Ogunjobi, was, however, unable to meet the bail condition.
This led to his remand at the correctional centre.
The monarch’s presence in custody was confirmed to newsmen on Wednesday by the spokesperson for the correctional centre, Yinka Odukoya.
“Yes, he is in our custody, which means he has been unable to meet the bail conditions granted by the court yesterday. However, as soon as he does, he will be released,” he was quoted by PUNCH.
NPO reported that the monarch had in the viral video physically assaulted the community leader over kingship tussle.
This sparked reactions from netizens who demanded for his arrest.
In reaction, the Nigerian Police Force effected his arrest and arraignment on a three-count charge.
Coupled with his arrest was his suspension by the Ogun state government.
