Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has opened up over perceived discontents within the party.
There are indications that all is not well within the party after the choice of his running mate who is the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa.
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue two days ago said Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike was more favoured to be the running mate to Atiku and not Okowa.
In the same vein, former Governor of Ekiti State Ayo Fayose also dropped his support for Atiku and said it is the turn of the South to produce the next President.
Atiku, in a statement on Thursday, said he is doing everything to unite the party ahead of the 2023 election.
“The PDP will remain united. Focus on our actions. We are taking action to address the feelings of all party members. The unity in our community is my priority. Our resolve to unify Nigeria starts in our party and moves to the community, then on to society,” he wrote
He added that Every Governor, Legislator, and other elected officials produced by his party, and party members and loyalists, are much loved and respected by him.
“When they speak, I listen. I do not only listen. Appropriate actions have been taken, are being taken, and will continue to be advanced. “
