Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the last general election, Mr. Peter Obi, has said that the attacks on the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress Joe Ajaero in Imo state on Wednesday is a direct indication of the state of Nigeria today.
In a terse comment on his X handle on Thursday, Obi expressed regrets over the attacks on the NLC president. “What happened to the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Joe Ajaero, in Imo State, yesterday has come as a rude shock to most Nigerians.
It says a lot about the state of affairs in our country today. NPO Reported that Ajaero was attacked at the airport on Wednesday shortly before the commencement of a protests by some workers in the state.
He was whisked away from the scene by men of the Nigerian Police Force. The police had explained that it took Ajaero away from those who mobbed him.
The NLC president had however alleged that he was attacked by a combined team of hoodlums and policemen. He was later hospitalised at the Federal Medical Centre Owerri.
