One of the sons of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Prince AbdulFatai Adeyemi, is dead. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Adeyemi, popularly known as D-Gov, died at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, in the early hours of Friday. NAN also that the Oyo prince, who was the immediate past Chairman of Oyo State Local Government Pension Board, died few hours to his 47th birthday. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun and former Gov. Ibikunle Amosun, on Friday, extolled the virtues of the late Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief Alaba Lawson, as her remains were committed to mother earth. A renowned African environmentalist, Nnimmo Bassey, says oil extractions in Africa have caused decades of environmental degradation and disruption of livelihoods than the benefits to the local economy. Bassey stated this in Dubai shortly after the screening of a documentary on the continuous burning of fire on the Ororo oil well in Ondo State for the past three years. The Nigerian Navy says its Forward Operating Base (FOB), IGBOKODA, in Ondo State, hasi n the early hours of Thursday apprehended a 77-meter-long Motor Tanker (MT) VINNALARIS 1 LAGOS involved in crude oil theft. The bridged was said to have collapsed when a truck ferrying a container along the Ojota -Oworonsoki Highway in the wee hours of Friday. The gunman who killed three people at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas (UNLV) was an academic who applied for a job at the school but not hired, US media report. The suspect, described as a white former college professor in his 60s, was killed in a shootout with police.
