Prof. Promise Mebine, the Director/Chief Executive, National Mathematical Centre (NMC), has called for the Centre to be converted to ‘National University of Mathematical Sciences’. Mebine expressed this at the sideline of a two-week workshop on foundation postgraduate course in “Time Series Analysis and Application” in Abuja. An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court, on Monday, remanded 27-year-old Tajudeen Orasakin, for allegedly being in possession of a human skull. The Police Prosecutor, Asp. Abdullahi Emmanuel, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 27, at Gbarin Area on Ifewara Road, Ile-Ife in Osun. The Katsina Assembly chapter of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), on Monday locked down the entrance of the assembly complex. The Chairman of the association in Katsina, Alhaji Isah Isma’il-Kanki, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Katsina confirmed 100 per cent compliance by its members. An Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, on Monday, sentenced one Tanko Morgan, 30, to one year imprisonment for stealing 50 metres of armoured cable valued N600,000 and N2 million suspended ceiling boards. The Magistrate Mrs M.O. Tanimola, sentenced Morgan after he pleaded guilty to the four-count charge of conspiracy, stealing, unlawful damage and breach of peace. Tanimola, however, granted Morgan’s co-defendant, Tunde Arinyewun, 45, who pleaded not guilty to the four count charge, bail.
