A witness, Mr Isiaka Olanrewaju, on Monday told the Osun State Election Petitions Tribunal that there were irregularities in the election results which declared Sen. Ademola Adeleke, as the Governor-elect. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had on July 16 declared Adeleke as the winner, having polled 403, 271 votes against 375,027 polled by Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun. The naira on Monday appreciated against the dollar at the Investors and Exporters window, exchanging at N445.38. The figure represents an appreciation of 0.07 per cent compared with the N445.67 for which the dollar exchanged at the close of business on Friday. The open indicative rate closed at N444.08 to the dollar on Monday. An exchange rate of N447 to the dollar was the highest rate recorded within the day’s trading before it settled at N445.38. No fewer than three persons reportedly died while two sustained injuries in a road clash on Sunday along Lagos-Abeokuta expressway. The road clash which involved a Volvo mini truck and a Nissan car,was said to have occured at about 7:15am after Obada police station along the expressway. Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has donated a sum of N100 million to flood victims in Kano. An unidentified man jumped into the lagoon in Lagos after efforts by good Samaritans to rescue him failed. A viral video showed the man being held by some people who pleaded with him not to commit suicide all to no avail.
