Olalere Toheeb A middle aged farmer, Awase Benjamin, has been remanded in custody by a Makurdi Magistrates’ court for allegedly destroying government property and possessing a firearm illegally. The magistrate, Mr. Kelvin Mbanongun, declined to take Benjamin’s plea due to lack of jurisdiction and ordered his remand at the Makurdi Correctional Centre pending the completion of investigations. According to the police prosecutor, Insp. Agency Report The Supreme Court, on Monday, reserved judgment in the appeal filed by Timipre Sylva, the All Progressives Congress (APC)”s candidate in the Nov. 11 governorship election in Bayelsa. The five-member justices, headed by Justice Garba Lawal, adjourned the judgment to a date that would be communicated to parties after counsel adopted their processes in the appeal. Agency Report The Supreme Court on Monday, reserved judgment in the appeal filed against the tribunal and Appeal Court judgements by Murtala Ajaka, candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the Kogi governorship election.
