Eight people were killed and 17 others injured in a stabbing attack on a college campus in the eastern Chinese city of Yixing on Saturday, police say. “Around 6:30 p.m. on November 16, 2024, a stabbing incident that resulted in casualties occurred at Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts and Technology in Yixing city, causing 8 deaths and injuring another 17, The suspect was apprehended on the scene,” according to a police statement. Safiu Kehinde The All Progressive Congress (APC) suffered defeat at the Ward of the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate, Agboola Ajayi. Following the complete uploading of all 17 polling units results of Apoi Ward 02, Ese Odo LGA on IREV, Agboola recorded 1545 votes. On the other hand, APC’s candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, gathered 1204 votes at the ward. However, uploading of results is still ongoing on IREV portal. As at the time of filing this report, 3585 (91.15%) polling units results have been uploaded as the portal.

INEC disclosed this in a post on its official X handle on Saturday. Accugas Limited, a subsidiary of Savannah Energy, has denied alleged involvement in the current power outage in Akwa Ibom state. The natural gas producing company debunked claims of being responsible for the power outage in a statement issued by its Communications Officer, Okwudili Onyia. According to the statement, the outage was caused by a reported fault in the 132-KV Aba-Itu transmission line. This prevented the transmission power from the National grid to the state. Meanwhile, his closest rival, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), gathered 3 votes. As seen in the result sheet, electorates votes at Aiyedatiwa won his polling unit with large margin against the PDP.
