Agency Report The Senate on Tuesday constituted an ad-hoc committee to investigate drug distribution allegations by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) against Sen. Oyelola Ashiru.(APC-Kwara). This followed the adoption of a point of order brought by Ashiru under Order 42 of Senate Standing Rules which entailed personal explanations. Safiu Kehinde Kano Pillars Football Team were, on Tuesday, involved in road crash, leaving several players injured. This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Nigerian club. According to the statement, the team’s bus conveying their under-19 players was involved in an accident on their way to Plateau state ahead of the U-19 Youth League matchday 5. Safiu Kehinde Three businessmen, Tahiru muktar, Rabiu Dahiru and Habibi Muhammed, were, on Tuesday, arraigned in Gwagwalada Magistrates’ Court for allegedly cheating their business partners of N17 million. The defendants who all reside in Phase 111 Gwagwalada, FCT, were charged with criminal conspiracy, breach of trust and cheating. Lamenting over the rise in number of the beggars across the city, Wike made the order while speaking at the flag-off ceremony of Judges quarters’ construction project yesterday. A former member of the House of Representatives Farouk Lawan who was convicted for bribery has been released today. Lawan was convicted in 2021 for seven years but had his sentence reduced by two years two years after after some of the charges against him were dropped. Safiu Kehinde A 25-year-old security guard, Hamodu Shaibu, was, on Tuesday, brought before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of N10 million cocoa beans. The defendant, whose address was not provided, pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him. The Prosecutor, Insp Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offence sometime between March and Oct. 14, in Ilumoba-Ekiti.
