Safiu Kehinde The faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) led by Bauchi state Governor, Bala Mohammed has filed a lawsuit seeking the conduct of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC). The five-count suit filed on Tuesday to a Zamfara Federal High Court had the party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the first and secondd respondents respectively. This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the Minister of Power on Strategic Communication and Media Relations, Bolaji Tunji. According to the statement, leadership of NERC and TCN were, at the weekend, summoned by the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, in an emergency meeting over the national grid which suffered set back twice last week. Safiu Kehinde Imo State Police Command has, on Tuesday, dismissed alleged attack on motorists by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) separatists enforcing sit-at-home order. Reacting to a video of the alleged attack which surfaced on X yesterday, the Command debunked the attack as it claimed the incident captured in the video occured in 2022 at Okigwe area of the state. This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Command’s spokesperson, Okoye Henry. A court in Peru has sentenced former President Alejandro Toledo to 20 years and six months in jail for corruption and money-laundering. Prosecutors say he took $35m (£27m) in bribes from a Brazilian construction company which was awarded a contract to build a road in southern Peru. Toledo, 78, was in office between 2001 and 2006. He was arrested five years ago in California, where he had lived and worked for many years, and extradited to Peru last year. The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, made this known at the 2024 National Technical Development Forum (NTDF) on Land Administration on Monday in Abuja. Agency Report The Kano State Hisbah Board has declared the Commissioner for Special Duties in Jigawa, Auwal Sankara, wanted for alleged adultery. The Commander General of the board, Aminu Daurawa, disclosed this at a news brefing in Kano on Monday.
