The House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee investigating employment racketeering in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government has summoned the Head of Service of the Federation (HoSF) to appear before it on July 27. The Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Radda, has approved N2.7 billion as part-payment for the construction of 75 new junior and senior secondary schools in the state. In a statement he issued on Wednesday in Katsina, Malam Ibrahim Kalau, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, disclosed that the N2.7 billion represented only 20 per cent of the total amount to be paid to the contractors handling the construction projects. The African Parliamentary Advocacy and Reform Group (APARG), a civil society organisation , has called on the leadership of the House of Representatives to jettison the alleged plan to create 145 Standing Committees. The Director of the group, Amb. By Kamil Opeyemi Fire engulfed a one-storey building consisting of 12 rooms and six shops on Wednesday, destroying valuable property at Bolumole in the Oyinloye street area of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital. It was gathered that the fire started from one of the upper rooms of the building around 11:45 a.m before spreading to other rooms.
