The Director, whose name was given as Aondo Ver, was kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be bandits at Pambara New Extension, Bwari Central Area of Federal Capital Territory at about 12:30 am on Thursday. The Akwa Ibom Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has arrested six persons in connection with alleged illegal dealing in petroleum products and impersonation. Its Commandant, Mr Eluyemi Eluwade, who addressed a news conference on Wednesday in Uyo, said that the suspects were arrested along Calabar-Itu Highway on Jan. 29, by operatives of the Anti-vandal squad. Tunni Ayuba, who confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos explained that the officers’ action amounted to professional misconduct. YouTube has terminated the official channel of disgraced Nigerian televangelist TB Joshua’s megachurch for violating its hate speech policies. It comes weeks after an investigation by the BBC and openDemocracy uncovered evidence of widespread sexual abuse and torture by the late preacher.
