The Naira dropped by 1.01 per cent compared to the N740.38 it exchanged for the dollar after the close of business on Sept. 1. The open indicative rate closed at N772.06 to the dollar on Monday. The EFCC Head of Media and Publicity,Wilson Uwujaren made this known in a statement on Monday in Ibadan. Uwujaren said that the suspects were arrested on Friday at Ologolo and Idi-Ishin areas of Ibadan, Oyo State capital following intelligence on their fraudulent activities. By Kamil Opeyemi The Police Command in Enugu State has foiled a kidnap attempt and neutralised two kidnap suspects at Ogbeke-Nike axis of Ugwogo-Nike/Opi/Nsukka Road in the State. This is contained in a statement issued by the Command’s Spokesman, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, on Monday in Enugu. The Federal Government has unveiled plans to include families of wounded and fallen soldiers in the national social register and its poverty alleviation programmes. The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Dr Betta Edu, made this known during a meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa on Monday in Abuja. The National/State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Benin, has upheld the victory of Sen. Adams Oshiomhole in the Feb. 25 Edo North Senatorial District election declared by INEC. The tribunal also upheld the election of Rep Ihonvbere Julius of the APC, representing Owan Federal Constituency. The three-man tribunal, led by Justice O.A. Chuioke, dismissed the petition filed by a former Senator, Francis Alimikhena, of the PDP for lack of merit. Two Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in Cross River have raised the alarm over incursion of miners into the National Park in the state. This is contained in a signed statement by Ken Henshaw of We the People NGO and Martin Egot of Devcon, also an NGO, on Monday in Calabar. The Brazilian football federation said the 23-year-old had been withdrawn from the squad after “facts became public” that “need to be investigated”. Apple’s latest iPhone will almost certainly feature a USB-C charge point when it is unveiled on 12 September. The firm’s phones currently use its proprietary Lightning adaptor, unlike rivals, including Samsung.
