The Nigerian Police Force on Sunday confirmed that the arrest of one Chike Ibezim is in connection with a petition by former Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola, over the reports that he was writing the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal. On August 10, Chike was reportedly arrested by some police officers in Abuja, the country’s capital. The suspects were breaking the security doors to gain entry when men of the state police command stormed the scene to restore order. The robbery was averted and a suspect was arrested. The State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Mannir Haidara, disclosed this in a statement issued in Gusau on Sunday. According to Haidara, the affected cattle markets include Danjibga and Kunchin-kalgo in Tsafe local government, Bagega and Wuya cattle markets in Anka LGA. The spokesman of the command, DSP Bright Edafe, told newsmen on Sunday in Warri that the Police had launched a manhunt for fleeing suspects. The United Kingdom issued some 132,000 visas to Nigerians in the first half of the year, Jonny Baxter, British Deputy High Commissioner in Lagos, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
