The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) received 166 Nigerians stranded in Libya at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Wednesday. Acting Coordinator of the Lagos Territorial Office of NEMA, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos. He represented NEMA Director-General, Alhaji Mustapha Ahmed, to receive the returnees. The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) says it has begun the replacement and repair of aged equipment used to carry out its daily operations at the airports across the country. The Managing Director, FAAN, Capt. Rabiu Yadudu, made this known at an interactive session with the League and Airports Aviation Correspondents (LAAC), in Lagos, on Wednesday. Turkey on Wednesday increased the prices of natural gas and electricity, citing a “surge in energy prices in global markets’’. In a statement, Turkey’s state-run BOTAS Petroleum Pipeline Company said natural gas prices were hiked by 30 per cent for houses, 16.3 per cent for electricity production, and 10.2 per cent for industry. A yet to be identified young man has been prevented from jumping into the Lagos Lagoon on Wednesday. Officials of the LCC Patrol Team on third mainland bridge who sighted the young man had parked near him to timely prevent him from jumping in. A video sighted by the NPO Reports showed the officials appealing to the young man to take it easy and believe in the future. He was said to have been handed over to the police. The Third Mainland Bridge has become a major suicide spot for many who have jumped into the lagoon.
