It was an upbeat moment on Tuesday for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as he was screened by the John Oyegun presidential screening panel. Osinbajo, after being screened, said the exercise was fruitful. Earlier when he arrived at the Transcorps Hilton Hotel venue of the exercise, described it as fruitful. The panel had on Monday screened eleven aspirants on the platform of the APC.
The Lagos State Government Tuesday evening said there is not basis for any tension over the ban on Okada which takes effect from Wednesday June 1. Prelate of the Methodist Church, His Eminence Samuel Uche, who was kidnapped last Sunday has said his freedom was secured after payment of a ransom to the tune of N100m. Speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Tuesday, the cleric said the notes were arranged in five sacks of N20 million. A journalist with The Nation newspaper in Osogbo the Osun State capital, Toba Adedeji has been shot by policemen. Adedeji was allegedly shot during a protest by some people who had come to register their displeasure with the killing of their friend, one Abiola Afolabi. He, with a teenager were shot at the Olaiya Junction Osogbo, as the policemen shot sporadically to disperse the mourning crowd. Afolabi was allegedly killed by policemen on April 4, 2022. Son of a former Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Mohammed Lawal Hakeem, has been elected the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party’s candidate for the 2023 election in the state. The Chairman of the Electoral Committee of the party, Mr Olatunji George, declared Hakeem the winner of the primary election that took place at Arca Center Hall in Ilorin on Monday night.
