Canada should introduce a total ban on the buying and selling of all handguns, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said. His government is proposing a new law that would freeze private ownership of all short-barrelled firearms. The legislation would not ban the ownership of handguns outright – but would make it illegal to buy them. Mr Trudeau’s proposal comes days after a deadly shooting at a Texas primary school, in the neighbouring US, killed 21 people. Uefa has commissioned an independent report into the scenes outside the ground that delayed Saturday’s Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid. The kidnapped Prelate of the Methodist Church in Nigeria, Samuel Kanu, has regained his freedom. He was kidnapped on Sunday May 29 in Abia State, South-East region of the country. The Christian Association of Nigeria, the umbrella body of Christian faithful, had called on President Muhamadu Buhari to order deployment of all security agencies to ensure his release. It was not clear if any ransom was paid to get him out of the kidnappers’ den. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) says it has arrested one Obinna Igbo, for allegedly importing fake malaria drug, Amanta Forte. The arrest of the suspect, a 32-year old businessman was made known in a statement signed by the agency resident media consultant, Mr Olusayo Akintola, on Monday. Akintola said that the suspect, who imported the unregistered product, had also been arraigned before Justice Tijani Ringim of a Federal High Court in Lagos on a four-count charge. A French journalist working in Ukraine has been killed near the battle-hit city of Severodonetsk in the east. Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff, 32, was covering an evacuation operation for broadcaster BFMTV when he died. Officials say he suffered a fatal wound to the neck after shrapnel pierced the armoured vehicle he was travelling in. His colleague Maxime Brandstaetter was also injured, report say.
