The Supreme Court on Friday, in a landmark judgment, resolved the ownership dispute of 17 oil wells between Rivers and Imo states in favour of Rivers. In the judgment delivered by Justice Emmanuel Agim, the apex court dismissed the counter claim ownership put forward by Imo State Government. The oil Wells, located in the territories of Rivers and Imo States, have been a subject of litigation at the apex court which served as a court of first instance with seven Justices in the panel. The Federal Government says it will resume its negotiations with the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) next week, with a view to ending the prolonged closure of Nigerian public universities. The Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. The Presidency has welcomed the decision by the United Kingdom to proscribe the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as a terrorist group. The President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, made this position known in a statement on Friday in Abuja. The Airline Operators of Nigeria has announced the shutdown of its operations from Monday due to the steady increase in the cost of aviation fuel. This was stated in a letter sent to the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, by its President, Abdulmunaf Yunusa Sarina. It was gathered that the cost of aviation fuel, also known as Jet A1, had risen from N190/litre and later N360/litre in January this year to N607/litre in March. An Ikeja Special Offences Court on Friday dismissed a no-case submission by Victor Aduba, charged along with kidnap kingpin, Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike (alias Evans). Aduba, an ex-soldier and Evans are charged with kidnapping a businessman, Mr. Sylvanus Ahamonu, and collecting a $420,000 ransom from his family.
