Ten communities of Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo barricaded the Lagos-Benin Highway on Wednesday to protest incessant attacks by herdsmen. Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) joined in the protest which lasted for several hours and led to a gridlock on the highway. The communities lamented that the rampaging herdsmen often destroyed their farmlands, evicted them forcefully from their ancestral homes and killed their loved ones. The senator representing Katsina North senatorial district in the National Assembly, Ahmad Babba Kaita, has dumped the All Progressive Congress. The senator announced his move to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday after his meeting leaders of the opposition party in Katsina State. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it will ensure thorough investigation into the cause of its Super Mushshak trainer aircraft crash that occurred on Tuesday at NAF Base, Kaduna. The death toll from the bomb blast at Iware International Cattle market in Taraba state has increased to six, the Police said. The Kaduna State government has approved the disbursement of N18 million to families of nine persons killed aboard the ill-fated Abuja-Kaduna train attacked by terrorists. The Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA), Mr. Muhammed Mukaddas, disclosed this on Wednesday in Kaduna. He said that Gov. Nasir El-Rufa’i of Kaduna State had on April 19 approved disbursement of N2 million each to the families of the deceased in the Abuja-Kaduna train attack.
