Police have arrested the husband of a top Nigerian gospel singing star, Osinachi Nwachukwu, after she died on Friday in an Abuja hospital. Initial reports said the 42-year old had been sick with throat cancer, but her family deny that, alleging she had been a victim of domestic abuse. Her husband Peter Nwachukwu has not yet commented. A police spokesperson said an investigation was underway to determine the cause of her death. Police rescued 39 kidnap victims in Zamfara on Sunday and arrested 10 suspects including members of the outlawed “Yankasai’’ group. An Ekiti High Court, presided over by Justice Lekan Ogunmoye, sentenced one Hussein Isah to life imprisonment on Monday for raping two underage girls. Prosecution proved that Isah raped the two children aged 11 years and 12 years at Ilasa-Ekiti sometimes in January 2020. Isah is a cotenant of the 11-year-old-girl and her mother, while the 12-year-old girl is a friend of the former whom she visited regularly. The Federal Government has recovered N53.5 billion out of N5.2 trillion from its Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
