US President Joe Biden has called for Russian President Vladimir Putin to be tried for war crimes as evidence emerges of atrocities allegedly committed by Russian forces in Ukraine. The Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria on Monday said that it generated N346.6 million from tickets sold across the country in March. Mr Patrick Lee, CEAN’s National President, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos. Lee said that the figure represented 45 per cent increase compared to 189 million realised in March 2021. The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has threatened to drag to court, any of the digital money lenders that violate consumer protection laws. The Executive Vice Chairman of the FCCPC, Mr. Babatunde Irukera, said this in a document signed on behalf of the Joint Regulatory Task Force (JRTF) addressing ‘loan sharks’ in Abuja on Monday. Imam Nuhu Khalid, who was sacked on Monday by the steering committee of the Apo Legislative Quarters, has been offered another appointment as Imam in another mosque in the Federal Capital Territory. His final dismissal was announced on Monday by the Chairman of the Steering Committee, Senate Isa Dansadau who accused Khalid of not showing remorse after his initial suspension. The steering committee of the Apo Legislative Quarters has finally relieved its Imam, Nuhu Khalid of his duty. He had been suspended last Friday after what was considered to be a sermon too critical of the government. Senator Saidu Dansadau who is the chairman of the steering committee of the mosque said the suspension has been upped to be a sack. Dansadau said Imam Khalid was sacked because he has not shown any remorse after he was given a punitive charge.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Bauchi Zone has accused the Nigerian Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and its parent ministry, the Ministry of Communications, of sabotaging the Federal Government’s efforts in resolving the impasse between it and the Union.
